Back-to-Back Meets, Wins, for Track

Members of the boys and girls track teams competed in back-to-back events on December 11 and 12.

On Friday night, boys track won its first-ever regular season indoor track meet. The boys scored points in every event, racking up 136 points to Gilman's 120. Teams from 12 schools competed in the MIAA group meet.

Said coach Jeff Sanborn, "We have won two indoor titles but have never been as complete and dominant during the regular season." The win puts the boys in good position for a regular-season title.

On Saturday, four boys earned sixth place for McDonogh in the Howard County Winterfest meet at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex. Jason G. '11 dominated, winning both the 55m high hurdles and the long jump. Paul F-H placed fourth in the high hurdles, while Brad B. was sixth in the shot put. A total of 31 teams competed.

At the same event, seven McDonogh girls claimed the team title with 52 points to the second-place team's 39. Kristen B. '10 won 3 golds. The 4 X 200 relay team (Jasmine R., Kristen, Jessica C., and Jordyn G.) came from behind in the last leg and won. Jasmine and Jordyn went 3,4 in the 200. Jessica Caldwell won the triple jump and finished fifth in the high hurdles.
