The Turtle Cam is Back

The turtle cam is back in operation! See the diamondback terrapin being raised by Rick Thompson's eighth grade Turtle Team. Here's Crush. You can see the diamond pattern on his shell.

McDonogh is part of a terrapin research project involving 29 other area schools. The Turtle Team's goal is to raise the Crush until the end of the school year, when he will be released at Poplar Island on the Chesapeake Bay.

Crush was hatched on Poplar Island on September 16, 2009. When he arrived at McDonogh, he weighed 8.5 grams and his shell was 3.3 centimeters long.
