Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen Band returned to McDonogh for a day of hand clappin'- foot stompin' fun on Tuesday, October 18. Solivan and his fellow musicians are rising stars in traditional and non-traditional bluegrass music circles, with successful CD releases and performances at major events from Nashville to Los Angeles.

The band had a full schedule on campus. They played at an upper school assembly in the morning, and then conducted small workshops on specific instruments. 下一个, the group discussed bluegrass music and played some of their tunes for a Middle School social studies class. In the afternoon they performed in the Horn Theatre for lower schoolers who were thrilled to sing with the band.

The talented group was back by popular demand after wowing the McDonogh community last fall. “Even people who don’t consider themselves bluegrass fans end up loving this group,” said history teacher John Wood, who is responsible for bringing the group to campus.

The band also played for a full house in the Ceres M. Horn Theatre that evening. Performers included Frank Solivan on mandolin and fiddle, Mike Mumford on banjo, Lincoln Meyers on guitar, and Dan Booth on bass.
